Using the natural winter cold of Northern Sweden we concentrate apple juice on the best Swedish apples and ferment the sweet must into an ice wine, an ice cider, with equal parts fresh apple acidity and warm autumnal apple sweetness.

Brännland Iscider EMBER is ice cider from 2022 with an added touch of apple brandy distilled for us by Tevsjö distillery and then lightly spiced using natural spices.
For the year we’ve chosen a well balanced 2022 vintage wine that we’ve chosen to fortify slightly less than previous years. The slightly lower alcohol level carries a seasoning that is more discreet than previously with cardamom in the foreground accompanied by cinnamon, cloves, orange and citrus peel.
Enjoy as a traditional mulled cider with blanched almonds, raisins and additional spices or cold over ice. Brännland Iscider EMBER is also an excellent cocktail component.
Tasting Notes, Joel Welander, Winemaker
Let’s be honest, glühwein or the Swedish version of it glögg is a way to make something sellable out of the worst red wine of the year. So what do you do when you have a good wine and still want to make some glogg because you love Christmas?
As little as possible of course. Ember 2022 is an example of less is more. A rounded, harmonious ice cider as the baseline and for this year adjusted, discreet but at the same time very Christmassy seasoning. The way I see it this version of Ember, as opposed to most other iterations in the genre, is genuine, honest. And of course very good.
